Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy (BCST)

What is BCST?

BCST is a gentle non-invasive, non-manipulative hand- on treatment which allows healing through relational touch with a qualified practitioner.  The intention of treatment is to enhance the body's own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities.  BCST is a gentle and subtle whole body approach to the human experience, and works with our Core, the Core of Our Being.

BCST takes a whole-person approach to healing and the inter-connections of mind, body and spirit are deeply acknowledged. It is an effective form of treatment for a wide range of illnesses helping to create the optimal conditions for health, encouraging vitality and facilitating a sense of well-being. It is suitable for people of all ages including babies, children and the elderly, and can be effective in acute or chronic cases.

How Does BCST Work?

The emphasis in BCST is to help resolve the trapped forces that underlie and govern patterns of disease and fragmentation in both body and mind. This involves the practitioner "listening through their hands" to the body's subtle rhythms for any patterns of inertia or congestion. Through the development of subtle palpatory skills the practitioner can read the story of the body, identify places where issues are held and then follow the natural priorities for healing as directed by the patient¹s own physiology.

Benefits of BCST

BCST facilitates the body’s inherent intelligence to surface and return our whole system to greater vitality and balance.  It is an effective form of treatment for a wide range of disorders and conditions.  It naturally aides the body, by unwinding theinjury, settling the nervous system, guiding the immune system and restoring health.   Events in our lives (i.e. injury, stress, trauma, experiences of grief) can create patterns where tissues become held and are unable to fully express their motion.  This typically creates undesired symptoms in our bodies.  The relational touch of the practitioner promotes a self-organizing principle using our body’s inherent intelligence to treat from within.  A BCST orientates the client’s system towards health and promotes self-healing as required by the individual.  This is called the inherent treatment plan.

  • Physically- BCST influences the central nervous system; brain and spinal column, as well as the fluid that bathes it. This fluid is called the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). From our skeletal system and the bones of the cranium to the ebbing and flowing of our endocrine system, this cranial modality is effective, yet gentle.
  • Emotionally- BCST can affect very deep and primary patterns, while providing the client with resource and space to explore their emotional landscape. BCST provides a deep sense of resourcing within the client. This resourcing provides a safe container for emotional issues to resolve.
  • Spiritually- BCST can open doors to both our hearts and soul, profoundly changing our lives.

What to Expect During a BCST Session

After filling out an intake form and a discussion of general health, the practitioner will have the client lay on their back (or in a comfortable position) on a massage table fully clothed.  The practitioner will typically be seated, lightly touching at specific locations such as the ankles, head, shoulders, sacrum (tailbone), or other areas requiring attention. It is common, after a series of sessions, to develop an increased perception of the physical structures of the body in relationship to your own health.

What You May Experience During Treatment

The experience during a BCST session is very individual though clients often feel a sense of calm, ease and relaxation.  Throughout the treatment you may feel sensations of tingling, temperature variances or a general sense of structures shifting and releasing.  In BCST the client’s system will regulate healing at a rate suitable to the client’s ability to balance and find relief towards optimal health. .

There may also be moments of emotions surfacing during the healing process.  BCST is client led and the client’s system will regulate healing at a rate suitable to the client’s ability to balance and find relief towards health. Through a Craniosacral touch our inherent intelligence allows us to shift towards a greater state of wellbeing within each session.  Our inherent intelligence allows us to shift towards a greater state of well-being, balance and joy, renewed sense of direction, purpose, and new ways of dealing with others.

We use our hands diagnostically, perceptually, and therapeutically that’s how simple and profound this is.  We are not listening for symptoms but for a pre-established priority set in motion by the Health of the patient.”  -Dr. James Jealous

Rust will not hinder the opening of a gate when the hinges are used each day.

Movement gives health and life. Stagnation brings disease and death."
